Who We Are?
 EXEDRA Cultural Foundation, was created on October
13, 1989, by agreement #1016-AJ-8 of the Ministry
of Education and Culture of Ecuador.
Its objectives are the promotion of our cultural
and artistic values, and the social assistance to
needy children and their families. Also promotes
small business enterprises inside jails and dictates
Seminars and regular schooling to prison inmates.
Seriously concerned by internal crisis in our
country, EXEDRA, considered necessary to come in
the aid of needy children and support their education
so, PADRINOS DEL FUTURO, was conceived in 1993.
Furthermore, EXEDRA, sponsors 930 children under
the program NUESTROS NIÑOS-MEE, for kids under 6
years old.
What
do We Do?
This Program gives educational
scholarships to children that can't afford the payment
of their education, and whom without our help, couldn't
have the chance of a best future.
For
Whom:
Our
kids come from extremely poor families who live
in urban-marginal areas of the cities.
Children
we sponsor, usually come from broken families, from
single mothers, and live piled up in a promiscuos
environment. Their homes lack elemental basic infrastructure,
such as running water, sewerage or garbage recollection.
A
large orphanage located on the Ecuadorian Coastal
area is also included in our aid.
Nowadays,
the Program gives 400 scholarships to 400 children,
but because of the economic crisis Ecuador is undergoing,
the demand for help raised on more than 100%.
At
this moment we have more than 500 children (with
the required profile) in a waiting list.
In
order for a child to qualify for an scholarship,
he/she has to meet certain requirements. An application
is filled and afterwards our social workers confirm
that all the information given is true and that
the child´s family is not capable of financing his/her
education.
